Novski portal has published a nice article about our eco-benches installed in Herceg Novi, which we are transcribing in full below:
“Instead of wooden benches, three benches made of recycled plastic were installed in Boka Park, which are longer-lasting, more durable and do not require maintenance. However, the most important thing is that one tree was preserved, which is necessary to make a traditional park bench, according to the producers from the company 3D Soba.
12,000 corks are needed to make this kind of bench, and its service life can be up to ten years.
Where did the idea for making benches come from and what can be made from recycled plastic for the Novski portal, 3D Room’s business development manager, Aldan Adrović, tells.
“Recently, we launched a plastic waste recycling project, that is, the production of boards and plates from recycled plastic. After that, we presented the project to the municipalities, because they are our main partners. We want to contribute to the preservation of forests in the greatest possible way, so that they are not cut down in order to change the planks on the benches, but also to make something useful out of the waste that will replace the wood,” says Adrović.
The purchase of plastic waste will soon be organized
Novska Opština responded positively to their idea and bought 10 benches. For any bench, you need to cut wood, and this action saves trees and cleans meadows and forests of plastic waste, which takes a very long time to decompose, so this combines two effects: forests are cleaned and nature is cleaned of plastic waste, he says our interlocutor.
“For now, we do not have organized waste collection, for that we need special permits, logistics, space, so we do it with companies that have permits. They sort and prepare the raw material for us. We extract plastic waste through industrial machines into plates and planks on presses. The benches are durable, there is no sanding or varnishing, gum cannot stick to them, they cannot break. If someone were to cut it, we can recycle it again, so there is no waste even then”, explains Adrović.
The value of one bench is 140 euros plus VAT, which, according to Adrović, is much less than what it is necessary to pay for a wooden bench, especially with its maintenance, plus an ecological moment.
“Our main goal through this project is to raise environmental awareness and for people to start thinking about recycling, to clean our beautiful country. At first we were skeptical, because we see garbage all around us and carelessness. But this project gave us positive effects and we are positively surprised. A part of the citizens throw away everything and everywhere, but a good part never do it. Our impression is that people already had sensibility or are slowly rebuilding it to take care of nature and the environment. We are optimistic,” he says.
Adrović adds that more and more citizens are turning to them and that the awareness of citizens seems to be changing more and more positively, it’s just a matter of speed.
Soon they will create a program and inform where citizens can deliver plastic and what benefits they will receive for it. Also, for all information about their products, you can get information on 067 799 944 or via social networks 3D Soba.
This is an example that Montenegro also has individuals and companies with good and sustainable business ideas, who do not only think about making money, but also about the future of the country. It is also good when local administrations, including Herzegovina, recognize ecological projects in order to leave more greenery for future generations. This can be one of the advantages of being an ecological country and a step towards fulfilling chapter 27 – environment and climate change in joining the EU. “
